Naturally, the first thing I did after powering it on and making sure it worked, was to wipe the installation of Ubuntu on the laptop and replace it with my now-favorite Linux Distribution: Kubuntu. For one, I want full-disk encryption. With how easy it is these days, who wouldn’t? And KDE is just superior these days. It didn’t use to be, but it is now and going forward.

It’s a blur at this point. But I can guarantee using these options in GRUB made it boot reliably by blacklisting the open source Nvidia driver which doesn’t work well with the GTX 1070 in here.
After installation and while booting at the GRUB menu, hit e to edit the GRUB configuration.
Replace quiet splash with nosplash noresume modprobe.blacklist=nouveau.
When it boots, it should be using the Intel GPU/drivers and should let you into your graphical session without issue.
The laptop is already very quiet during POST, I don’t want the OS hiding even more information from me. I’ve settled on these parameters in my GRUB config:
--verbose nosplash noresume
